Ciano and Goldwasser successfully moved the first lawsuit into Cuyahoga County's new Commercial Docket. The Commercial Docket is in a quasi-experimental phase in collaboration between the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas and the Ohio Supreme Court. The purpose of the Docket is to create an exclusive courtroom where complex, commercial disputes can be litigated in an efficient, cost-effective and expedient manner. For C&G partner, Phillip Ciano (whose primary practice is representing corporations, business owners, limited partners, partners and physicians in commercial and employment-related disputes), the Commercial Docket is a welcome addition to the practice. Says Mr. Ciano, "From a business perspective, the Commercial Docket provides a more predictable, efficient and exclusive forum for which to try and resolve commercial matters. From a lawyer's perspective, the Commercial Docket allows streamlined discovery, faster case management schedules and knowledgeable judges. To the extent there can be such a result in litigation, it is a "win-win" for all parties involved."
Phillip Ciano and Andy Goldwasser plan on moving all of their commercial litigation cases into the new Commercial Docket and hope that it becomes a permanent fixture in the Cuyahoga County and other court systems.
