The Plaintiff was a 30- year-old welder whose left hand was crushed under a 600- pound piece of steel that fell from an industrial magnet. 

The plaintiff established through former employees that the defendant knew the magnet was malfunctioning prior to the incident, yet did nothing. 

The plaintiff was able to secure two affidavits from former employees to establish the elements of a workplace intentional tort. 

The case proceeded to mediation on two separate occasions.  The initial settlement offer was $50,000.00.  It resolved for the sum of $825,000.00.
